Royal Air Force Wyton, or RAF Wyton, is a major United Kingdom Ministry of Defence intelligence and logistics hub located near St Ives, Cambridgeshire.[1]

The station is home to the Pathfinder Building, the operational heart of Defence Intelligence and primary site of the newly unified Military Intelligence Services (MIS).[2][3]

Pathfinder Building

The Pathfinder Building, opened in 2013, is the largest Five Eyes intelligence fusion hub in the world and houses around 1,200 personnel from the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.[2][3]

Key intelligence groupings based there include:

Elements of Defence Intelligence, including staff from the former Strategic Assessment branch (now integrated into MIS), operate from the Pathfinder Building.[2]

Dedicated space exists for GCHQ and allied partners.

History

Originally a training station opened in 1916, RAF Wyton became home to the Pathfinder Force in 1942. The station later hosted photographic reconnaissance and intelligence units.[1]

The Pathfinder Building was constructed under the PRIDE programme to co-locate tri-service intelligence functions.[1]
