Catherine McKinnell is the UK Labour Party MP for Newcastle upon Tyne North, and the shadow economic secretary to the Treasury.

Career

McKinnell was elected in May 2010 with a majority vote of 3,414.

She has held various ministerial roles, starting in October 2011 when Ed Miliband appointed her shadow minister for children and young families. She then became shadow exchequer secretary to the Treasury and a member of the shadow treasury team in May 2012, before being appointed shadow economic secretary to the Treasury in October 2013.
