Alistair Carmichael has been the Liberal Democrat MP for Orkney and Shetland since 2001. He is the deputy leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats [1] and was also appointed as secretary of state for Scotland in October 2013. [2]
History
He was appointed Comptroller (HM Household) (Deputy Chief Whip, House of Commons) in 2010.[3]
In July 2007 he was appointed Liberal Democrat Northern Ireland and Scotland Spokesman. [1]
