Izi Dorot (1916-1980) was head of Israel's Shin Bet security agency in 1952 and subsequently deputy head of the Mossad intelligence agency.

Early life

Dorot was born in 1916 in Poland as Isidore Roth. He moving to Israel in 1936, served in the Jewish Settlement Police, and joined the British Army during World War II. Upon his discharged he was recruited to the Haganah Intelligence Service.[1]

Shin Bet

Following the establishment of the state of Israel Dorot joined Shin Bet.[1]

He served as deputy to Isser Harel before becoming Shin Bet chief from 1952 to 1953.[2]

Mossad

Dorot served as Deputy Head of the Mossad from 1953 to 1963. He died in 1980.[1]
