Miri Regev is a member of the Israeli Knesset for Likud.[1]
Regev served as head of the IDF Spokesperson's Unit from 2005 to 2007.[2]
African migrants controversy
In May 2012, Regev took part in a Tel Aviv protest against African migrants in Israel and said that "the Sudanese were a cancer in our body."[3]
Following criticism of her comments Regev said:
- "When I compared the migrant worker phenomenon to cancer I was referring to the way the phenomenon had spread, and not anything else. If anyone took it otherwise and was consequently offended, I apologize and I surely did not intend to hurt either Holocaust survivors or cancer patients".[4]
