Background
He coordinates the European part of a world-wide project in support of the Press Service of the Russian Government. During the Russian Presidency of the G8 in 2006, he was frequently in Moscow and St Petersburg giving media support to the Organising Committee.
He was also part of the U.S.-European team which led the development of the agenda for the re-launch of the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue, a CEO-led group of leading businesses, from 2003-2005. In 2004 he was part of a team which advised the new Ukrainian government on its policy towards Brussels.
While at GPlus, Tim has given media and political advice to a number of European and American companies and associations who were involved in complex competition negotiations with the European Commission in a range of sectors, from luxury goods to insurance.
Tim currently advises a leading pharmaceutical association on their EU strategy, including active political engagement and media relations. He also works with the world’s leading resources company, advising them on their relations with the EU institutions, particularly on environmental and development policy.
Earlier in his career Tim worked in the Press Office of the European Commission's Representation in London, as well as for the British Council and for the French Ministry of Education. He lived and worked for some time in Budapest, giving him experience of the new Member States of the EU.
In 1999, Tim was a candidate for the Pro-Euro Conservative party in the European Parliament elections in the UK. He is now a member of Britain’s Liberal Democrat Party.[2]
He graduated from Loughborough University in the UK with a first class honours degree in Politics, French and German. He subsequently completed a Masters degree in EU Politics at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. Since graduating Tim has also been teaching on “interest representation”: for 2 years he taught a course to students of the Natolin (Poland) campus of the College of Europe, and he now teaches a similar practical-based course in Bruges. In addition to his native English, Tim speaks French and German, and understands some Dutch and Serbian.[3]
