IREX Europe is the European arm of the International Research and Exchanges Board, a US non-profit organisation "specialising in education, independent media, Internet development, and civil society programmes in the United States, Europe, Eurasia, Africa, the Near East, and Asia"[1].
According to the organisation's mission statement; "IREX Europe assists in the development of nations and peoples by providing services, programs, infrastructure and technologies that strengthen civil society, independent media, education and the functioning of democracy"[2].
In Iraq, IREX Europe is working in partnership with the BBC World Service Trust and Albany Associates to build a professional code of conduct and regulatory framework for Iraqi media.
