Julie Elliott is the Labour Party MP for Sunderland Central. [1] She was elected in May 2010 with a majority of 6,725. [2] In 2015 she was retained her seat, gaining 50 per cent of the vote and a majority of 11,179. [3]
Elliott has a number of other roles aside from being an MP, including vice chair of the Labour North Board as well as secretary/treasurer of the Northern Trade Union Liaison Organisation. [4] She also sits on the European scrutiny select committee, business innovation and skills select committee and is co-chair of the all party parliamentary group for primary care and public health. [4]
Elliot is also parliamentary private secretary to Caroline Flint, the shadow secretary of state for energy and climate change.
Education
Elliott obtained a degree in Government and Public Policy at Newcastle Polytechnic. [4]
