Debbie Abrahams is the Labour Party MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth. Abrahams has served in this constituency since she won a by-election in January 2011. In the 2015 general election, Abrahams gained a majority vote of 6,002 votes. [1]
Speaking after her victory, Abrahams said 'she hopes to continue the good work she has started within the constituency in dementia care, working with small businesses and healthcare'. [2]
Background
Abrahams holds the role of parliamentary private secretary to Andy Burnham, the shadow health secretary. She is also chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party’s health committee. With her background in health, she is vice-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia and chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Health in all policies. [1]
