Robert Walker (Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe) is a crossbench peer in the House of Lords, having joined on the 1 October 2002.

Career

Walker is a former high ranking judge, having been appointed as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 2002 and Justice of Supreme Court of the UK in 2009. He retired from the British courts in 2013.[1]

Hong Kong

  • Non-permanent Judge, Court of Final Appeal, Hong Kong.[1] He told the Wall Street Journal, "I hold this office under arrangements negotiated between the governments of the UK and the People’s Republic of China prior to the handover in 1997," and that "Many observers consider that these arrangements make some contribution to the maintenance of the rule of law in Hong Kong."[2]
