Theo Bertram is a former Downing Street special adviser to prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. In August 2010 he was appointed acting head of 02 UK's public affairs on a six-month contract.[1]He joined Google as UK Policy Manager in April 2011. [2] In July 2014 Bertram was appointed as google public policy manager for the EMEA ( Europe, the Middle East and Africa) section of Google. [3]
Background
Bertram was a communications manager for the Labour Party and then a parliamentary researcher to Parmjit Dhanda, the former Labour MP for Gloucester. He rose up the ranks and was recruited by Tony Blair as head of research and information at Number 10. [1]
Activities
Bertram "played a key role in helping Brown prepare for the 2010 election TV debates, playing Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg in private rehearsals." Blair's former press secretary Alastair Campbell played Tory leader David Cameron.[1] [4]

When confirming Bertram's appointment, O2's director of communications and sustainability Glenn Manoff cited the importance of his four years as a prime ministerial special adviser, and "rich experience, insight and energy during a time when we’re juggling a number of crucial public policy issues."[1]
