Wolfgang Ischinger is a German diplomat.[1]
From 1998 to 2001 he served as the German Deputy Foreign Minister. From 2001 to 2006, he was the German Ambassador to the United States and from 2006 to May 2008, he was the German Ambassador to the United Kingdom.[1]
Ischinger is the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference; the Global Head of Government Relations, Allianz SE, Munich; a board member of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI); a member of the European Council on Foreign Affairs (ECFR) and the Global Zero Commission.[1]
Since December 2009, he has been co-chair of the Euro-Atlantic Security Initiative (EASI) of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is a member of the Executive Board for the European Leadership Network (ELN).[1]
