Ron Nachman is the mayor of Ariel, a settlement in the West Bank.[1]
From 1970 to 1983, he was employed by Israeli Military Industries, where he held the position of Deputy Director General of the R & D division.[2] From 1983 to 1985, he served as Deputy Director General of the Israel Broadcasting Authority.[2] In 1978, Nachman headed the nucleus of residents that founded Ariel. In 1985, he became the first elected Mayor of Ariel. He was re-elected Mayor in 1990, and again in 1995, 2000,2005 and 2008.[2] In the Israeli national elections in June of 1992, Ron Nachman was elected to the Israeli Knesset, the only Likud member elected from the occupied territories.[2]
