Maeve Sherlock has been chief executive of the Refugee Council since 2003. Before this she was a special adviser to Gordon Brown where her brief spanned child poverty, welfare reform and the voluntary sector.
Before moving to HM Treasury, Sherlock was chief executive of the National Council for One Parent Families and, prior to that, director of UKCOSA, a charity focusing on overseas students and international education. She was a member of the National Union of Students Executive from 1985-1998 including as president from 1988-90.
She is a member of the Advisory Board on Naturalisation and Integration and the National Refugee Integration Forum. [1]
