Ovo Energy is a UK based energy supplier with offices in Bristol and London. It was founded by former financial trader Stephen Fitzpatrick and began trading in 2009.
Ovo was set up as a rival to the 'Big Six' energy companies (Centrica-owned BG Group, EDF Energy, npower, E.ON, Scottish Power, and SSE), who Fitzpatrick believed had grown too expensive.[1] In October 2013 Fitzpatrick spoke to the Energy and Climate Change Committee and criticised the Big Six for their rising prices, saying the wholesale cost had in fact got cheaper.[2]
