Paul Holmes is a special adviser to the Conservative Party chairman and chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Patrick McLoughlin, appointed in December 2016.
Prior to his appointment, he worked as an account manager at the lobbying firm Portland from July 2015. [1]
Career
Holmes was the chairman of the Southampton University Conservatives. From June 2009-February 2011, he was a cabinet member of Southampton city council, and also served there as a local government councillor until May 2012.
He then served as a senior parliamentary adviser to Stephen Hammond from 2011 to 2014.
In the 2015 general election he stood as the a parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party for Mitcham and Morden, and lost.
Education
Holmes attended to University of Southampton, reading politics and IR.
