Mary Creagh has been the Labour Party MP for Wakefield since 2005, retaining her seat with 40 per cent of the vote and a majority of 2,613 in the 2015 election. [1]
Creagh is the current shadow secretary of state for international development having been appointed in 2014. [2]
She is a former shadow secretary of state for transport (2013-14) and shadow secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs from 2010 to 2013.[2]
Creagh joined the Environmental Audit Committee in November 2015. [3]

Creagh's constituency includes two shale licence blocks, awarded by the Oil and Gas Authority under the 14th licensing round in 2015. One was awarded to IGas and one to Hutton Energy.
