Sir John Douglas Kelso Grant (born 17 October 1954) is a former British diplomat.
Kelso is now a director of Fairholme Advisory Limited, a management and financial consultancy. He previously worked as an executive vice president of policy and corporate affairs at oil and gas company BG Group plc.
Grant was appointed an advisory board member of UK lobbying firm MHP Communications in June 2013. In this role he is involved in helping set strategic priorities, as well as also being 'on hand to advise clients too, when appropriate'. [1]
In November 2016, Grant was appointed to the Scottish government's standing council on Europe, set up to advise on protecting Scotland's place in the European Union. [2]

Grant was appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden in succession to Roger Bone CMG who transferred to a new diplomatic service appointment. He was the UK's Permanent Representative to the European Union from 2003 to 2007, based in Brussels.
Post diplomatic life
In March 2007 Grant resigned his position as permanent representative to the European Union and joined the Australian mining company BHP Billiton to head its European operations that September. BHP Billiton is the world's largest mining company.[3] ACOBA approved Grant's role at BHP on March 2007, "subject to a three-month waiting period from his last day in post and the condition that, for six months from that same date, he should not be involved in lobbying UK or EU ministers on behalf of his new employers".[4]
In September 2009 he was given "unconditional approval" by ACOBA to take up the role of executive vice president, policy & corporate affairs at oil and gas company BG Group plc.[5]
