Jonathan Ashworth is the current Labour MP for Leicester South. [1] He was elected in a by-election in May 2011 following the resignation of his predecessor Peter Soulsby who stepped down in order to run for office as Mayor of Leicester. [2]

Ashworth is also currently the shadow minister for the Cabinet Office, an opposition position he has held since October 2013.
