Brown joined Hill and Knowlton in March 2014. Before this he worked at Critical Resource, where he provided political guidance to international energy and mining companies.[1]
Brown previously worked for the Foreign Office for over ten years in a number of different Middle Eastern countries. According to Public Affairs Networking:
- He joined the Foreign Office just a week after 9/11 and enjoyed a decade that allowed him “to see the full spectrum of human life, from interviewing terrorists in Heathrow interrogation rooms to enjoying a martini with a contact in the private lagoon that surrounds the Bahrain Ritz Carlton”.[2]
Brown works with H+K's managing director Simon Whitehead, who commented: “Jonathan is an exceptional public affairs expert whose knowledge of the international political and energy landscapes will further strengthen our ability to deliver deep insight and strategic advice to our clients.”
Brown says:
- I very much see my role in H+K as a natural development of my work in the Foreign Office. Fundamentally diplomacy is about strategic communications; creating a narrative, developing alliances and advocating causes. Although the clients may be very different now, the skills are very similar. In fact H+K with its truly global network of offices, offers a career which is, in many ways, more internationally focused than my previous role.
