Robert Kerslake, known as Bob Kerslake, was acting head of the Home Civil Service until September 2014, having succeeded Sir Gus O'Donnell, the former cabinet secretary, at the end of 2011.[1]
He also served as permanent secretary to the Department for Communities and Local Government from September 2010 until February 2015.[2]
On 19 March 2015, Kerslake was appointed as a life peer in the UK Parliament's House of Lords. [3]
Life after the civil service
After leaving his roles as head of the Home Civil Service and permanent secretary to the DCLG, Lord Kerslake took on several new roles outside government.
In September 2015, the ACOBA approved his request to set up an independent consultancy called Endcliffe Services, which provides management services to local government and the health sector.
He has taken up a commission with Endcliffe Services operating as a Retained Associate for Penna, an organisation that operates in the HR services industry.
Kerslake has also undertaken some Chairmanship roles; one for the King's College Hospital Foundation Trust in March 2015, and one as Chairman of the Board for Peabody, the Housing Association, on an unpaid basis. He took on this role in January 2015.[4]
