Guy Newey was appointed special adviser to the then UK energy and climate change secretary Amber Rudd in May 2015 [1] and retained the role when she was appointed secretary of state at the Home Office in July 2016.

Newey is the former head of policy at energy supplier Ovo Energy and previously worked for four years at the right-wing think tank Policy Exchange as its head of environment and energy.
