Chris Donnelly (Date of birth: 10 Nov. 1946) is a Trustee of the Institute for Statecraft. Between 1989 and 2003 he was Special Adviser for Central and Eastern European Affairs to four successive Secretaries General of NATO, including latterly Lord Robertson.[1]

Born in Rochdale, Lancs., to Anthony Donnelly and Dorothy M. Morris, Donelly was educated at Cardinal Langley School, Middleton, Lancs. and graduated from University of Manchester in 1969.[2]
Career
Donnelly was Instructor, Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (RMAS) 1969–72; Sr Lecturer, Soviet Studies Research Centre, RMAS 1972–79, Dir 1979–89; Territorial Army (Int. Corps) 1970–93; Adjunct Professor, Carnegie Mellon University 1985–89, Georgia Technical University 1989–93; Special Adviser for Cen. and E European Affairs to Sec.- Gen. of North Atlantic Treaty Organization 1989–2003; Founder and Head of Advanced Research and Assessment Group, Defence Academy of the UK 2003–07, Sr Fellow 2007–10; currently Dir Institute for Statecraft, London.[2]
