Och founded the firm in 1994.[1] The company currently oversees more than $46 billion.[2] The company has been embroiled in a number of controversies regarding its investments in Africa.[3]
He is the founder and a trustee of the Jane and Daniel Och Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non profit foundation based in New York. The foundation supports a number of pro-Israel causes. He received his B.S. in Finance from the The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.[1]

In 2015 Och was listed by Forbes at number sixteen in its ranking of the 'Highest-Earning Hedge Fund Managers & Traders'.[4] As of fiscal year 2014 his total calculated compensation was $1,141,613 and in 2015 his net worth was calculated at $3.9 Billion.[2] In 2015 he was ranked by Forbes as the 452nd richest billionaire in the world and the 150th richest billionaire within the United States.[2] [1] Och owns a 7,000 square-foot mansion in The Hamptons valued at more than $20 million.[5] He also owns a $41 million penthouse at 15 Central Park West and a $20.3 million mansion in Aspen, Colorado.[6]
