Norman Baker was the Liberal Democrats MP for Lewes from 1997 to 2015. He lost his seat to the Conservative's Maria Caulfield by 1,083 votes.[1]
Baker was appointed parliamentary under-secretary at the Department for Transport in 2010.[2] In October 2013, he was appointed as minister of state for crime prevention in October 2013 at the Home Office.[3] He resigned from this role on 3 November 2014.
Baker is said to have left his role in the Home Office following a year of internal battles with his Conservative boss Theresa May. [4]
