Alistair Carmichael has been the Liberal Democrat MP for Orkney and Shetland since 2001. He was appointed Comptroller (HM Household) (Deputy Chief Whip, House of Commons) in 2010.[1] He was appointed Secretary of State for Scotland in October 2013.[2]
