Uriel Reichman (born Tel Aviv, 4 July 1942 [1]) is an Israeli professor of law and former politician. He founded the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, a private college with strong connections with the military and intelligence in Israel.
Reichman was born in Tel Aviv on July 4, 1942, to German Jews who had fled the Nazis. He served as a paratrooper in the early 1960s,. He studied law at Hebrew University, and got a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1975 and by 1985 was dean of the Law Faculty of Tel Aviv University.[2]
Reichman was a founder of the Shinui party, and was chosen to head its presidium in May 2004. He left in late 2005 to join Ariel Sharon's Kadima party as its candidate for Education Minister.[3] He resigned from the Knesset in April 2006 after Sharon's successor Ehud Olmert gave the education portfolio to the Labor Party.[4]
