John Crackett has been a non-executive board member of the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation since July 2011. Before this he was Managing Director of Central Networks – the UK’s second-largest distributor of electricity - and also a E.ON UK Board member responsible for Safety, Health and Environment.
In a 2010 article in The Times John Crackett, while Head of Networks at Eon, criticised proposals by Ofgem regarding payment of investment in the energy network:
- “We can cut carbon, we can cut costs, but we can’t do both,” said John Crackett, networks chief at Eon.
- “We need to have fair returns that are attractive to investors. If they are not attractive, we are not going to reach the [government] goals because companies won’t invest.”[2]
