Former EU Commissioner Franz Fischler left his position as Commissioner for Agriculture in 2004 and set up Franz Fischler Consult GmbH. On the consultancy firm's website it is stated that his clients can "benefit from inside knowledge".[1]
Fischler is also one of the founders of the RISE Foundation (Rural Investment Support for Europe). The RISE Foundation's primary aim is "to support private initiatives undertaken and directed by private investors aimed at preserving and enhancing the countryside and the living conditions of the rural communities."[2] He was also a member of the advisory board of the DIE ERSTE österreichische Spar-Casse Privatstiftung from 2005.[3]
