UK grant-making charity of Global Media founder Ashley Tabor-King

The Ashley Tabor-King Foundation is an English registered charity (no. 1178634). It was created by declaration of trust dated 31 May 2018 by settlor Ashley Tabor-King CBE and registered on 5 June 2018. Principal office: Global Media & Entertainment Ltd, 29–30 Leicester Square, London WC2H 7LA. Bankers: Coutts. Accountants: BDO.[1][2]

Objects: general charitable purposes, in particular first-responder health and welfare (PTSD and other job-related harm; paramedics, police, fire, RNLI, mountain rescue, bereaved families) and advancing young people.[1]

Grant policy: applications considered by trustees “on their own merit.” No minimum reserves. Incoming resources are donations (plus Gift Aid in some years). The accounts never name the donor; debtors have included “Due from Ashley Tabor-King” (£150,000 at 5 April 2022; £23,073 at 5 April 2023; £4,200 at 5 April 2024).[3][4]

Year to 5 April 2025: income £112,416, expenditure £1,021,253. Cash at Coutts fell from £1,004,625 to £4,625 after the £1m air-ambulance grant. No trustee pay or expenses in any year filed.[5][2]

Related-party grant: Global Academy

Year to 5 April 2023 the Foundation committed £1,134,600 to Global Academy UTC Trust Limited (shown as payable at year end; cleared the following year). Note 12:

“Three of the Foundation's Trustees, namely Ashley Tabor King, Stephen Miron and Emma Bradley (who resigned as a Trustee on 18 May 2023) are members of the Global Academy, who the Foundation committed to make a £1,134,600 donation to in the year. The Trustee minutes confirm that the above Trustees were excluded from the decision whether to donate to the Global Academy.”[3]

The same wording is repeated in the 2024 accounts for the prior-year gift. The 2025 related-party note says there were no connected-party transactions that year.[4][5]

Same year: £200,000 to Baker Dearing Educational Trust (UTC umbrella). Legal fees in support costs: £14,088 (2023), £7,578 (2024), £8,974 (2025).[3][5]

Westminster Synagogue (1133190), Kent House, Knightsbridge — independent Reform congregation. One grant, £25,000, year to 5 April 2020. Objects on the register are worship, study and related religious charity. It is the only synagogue line in these notes.[8]

Global, LBC and Israel / Gaza

The Foundation does not fund LBC. Control is the same: Tabor-King founded Global; Allen and Miron are Global directors and Foundation trustees; Cairns and Enser-Wight are Global staff put on the charity in 2023; the office is Global’s Leicester Square building.

Documented LBC rows on Israel/Palestine:

  • May 2021: Ofcom found LBC News in breach of due accuracy and offence after a reporter called the Israeli Embassy the “Jewish Embassy” nine times during London protest coverage after Gaza airstrikes.[9]
  • From 2023, James O'Brien and others have used UN / aid-agency language on Gaza, including genocidal acts; O’Brien has said he is routinely accused of antisemitism for stating those facts. The Jewish Chronicle and campaigners including Dov Forman have accused the same programmes of Hamas framing and, in July 2025, of airing a listener letter they called a blood libel (LBC promoted then deleted a clip).[10]

Those are editorial fights inside the group that houses the Foundation. They are not charity programmes. The grant book is first-responder, academy and royal-foundation money plus one £25,000 synagogue gift.

Finances

Incoming donations (note 2) plus Gift Aid where shown: 2019 £255,000; 2020 £335,000 + £83,750 Gift Aid; later years as on the Commission register. Support costs are examiners / audit / legal, not grants.
