Wolf Golombok (formerly Woolf, b 1893[1]) was a Glasgow based Zionist activist. He married Polly Golombok (nee Gladstone) in 1916 in Blythswood.[2] She died at age 27 in 1923.[3] He married Ethel Golombok (nee Most) in 1925 in Cathcart.[4]


  • 1912 - A general meeting of the Glasgow B'nei Zion was held in the Beth Hasepher Hall last Sunday, when Mr. Z. Golombok presided in place of Mr. J. Bernottin, resigned. The balance-sheet was adopted. The Chairman regretted the inactivities of the Society during the past few mouths, and appealed to the meeting to assist in reorganising the Society. Their position in Glasgow could, he said, be greatly improved, and their membership increased, and a special effort in this direction would be made at once. The following were elected : Messrs. A. Haase, President; Z. Golombok and B. Shenkin, Vice-Presidents; A. Links Treasurer; P. L. Halpern, Hon. Secretary; H. Furst, National Food Commissioner ; and L. Haase, Share Club Convenor.[5]
  • The following have been elected office-bearers of tire Junior Zionist Musical Association : W. Golombok, Chairman: L. Wolfson, Manager; and Miss J. Boiaskei, Secretary and Treasurer.[6]
  • 1965 - 'Mr. W. Golombok, who has given nearly 50 years' service to the Zionist movement in Glasgow was, with Mrs. Golombok, entertained at a receptum held to mark their departure to live in Birmingham. One of the founders of the first Junior Zionist Organisation in Glasgow, Mr. Golombok for many years served on the executive committee of the local Zionist Organisation of which he is hon. vice-president. He is also a former chairman of the Glasgow Va'ad L'Maan Habonim. Mr. Lewis Wolfson hon president of the Glasgow Zionist Organisation and president of Habonim, presented Mr. Golombok with a Golden Book certificate and paid warm tribute to him as one of the "enthusiastic back-room boys" of Zionist work in Scotland. A certificate for trees to be planted in Israel was also presented to Mr. Golombok by Mr. T. N. Tolley, chairman of the Ayr Hebrew Congregation, who paid tribute to his services to the local community. Mr. and Mrs. Golombok have lived in Ayr for the past few years and the reception was held in the Invercloy Hotel, Ayr.[7]
