The Wiggins Group, commercial and residential property developers, gave more than £5,000 in sponsorship to the Labour Party in 1998 and 2000. They own Manston Airport and a huge business park next door at Manston Park. In 1997 they sold 2 hotels, Redworth Hall and Hellaby Hall, for £12,825,000. They are developing a 164 acre site at Fairfield Hospital in Bedfordshire, 800 houses in St John's Park in Lincoln and have other developments in Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool, Essex and Oxfordshire.
The Chairman of the Wiggins Group is William W.C. Syson. He is also Chairman of developers City Site Estates (bought by Woodvale Estates in 1998 for £4.4 million). City Site Estates were censured by the Stock Exchange in 1997 for breaching their financial rules (selling property without their shareholders' permission).He is also Chairman of the Johnson Fry Utilities Trust and a Director of Scottish Value Trust plc, an investment company (including offshore investments).
