Former Soviet Union

Khazakstan

In August 2006, Richard Spring and David Ruffley are expected to visit Kazakhstan within the framework of activity of Westminster Foundation for Democracy. [1]

Georgia

"The SNP's Shadow Deputy Justice Minister, Stewart Stevenson MSP will be visiting the Republic of Georgia to host a workshop on Civic Nationalism with local politicians in Marneuli and to meet Members of the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi.
The Westminster Foundation for Democracy, which is funding this visit, provides money to parliamentary parties represented in the UK Parliament. The SNP has chosen to focus its efforts on Malawi and the Caucuses, building on the work of SNP MP Angus Robertson in bringing people together in Scotland to reduce regional tensions and build capacity in local democratic organisations." Ukraine

MP Jamie Reed has called for a common international energy policy and for developing countries to be helped to combat climate change. Mr Reed addressed a summit attended by Eastern European politicians and policy-makers in Kiev, Ukraine, earlier this month. The trip was organised by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy – a group that seeks to strengthen democracy in central and eastern Europe.[3]
