Nicholas Phillips (Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers) is a crossbench peer in the House of Lords, having joined on the 12 January 1999.
Career
Phillips is a highly distinguished judge, who has served as Judge of the High Court of Justice, Lord of Appeal in Commercial Court and Ordinary, Master of the Rolls, Head of Civil Justice, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Senior Law Lord and President of the UK Supreme Court. He retired from the courts in 2012.[1]
He has also held roles in public bodies including the Law Advisory Committee, the Council of Legal Education, the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Public Records, the Sentencing Guidelines Council and the Criminal Procedure Rules Committee.[1]
