The St James's Place Group was established in 1991, under the name of the J. Rothschild Assurance Group, by Lord Rothschild, Sir Mark Weinberg and Mike Wilson. St James's Place was floated on the stock market in 1997 and its market capitalisation places it within the FTSE 250 Index.

In June 2000 HBOS, a 'Top Ten' FTSE 100 Company and one of the strongest UK companies, took a 60% shareholding in St. James's Place.

Members of St James's Place are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and has over 400,000 clients and over £15 billion funds under management. Advice from the St James's Place Group, is provided by the St James's Place Partnership, which brings together experienced financial service professionals working in financial services today [1]
