- to provide leadership in lobbying transparency and ethics,
- to provide leadership in reforming financial architecture,
- to promote a full-scale rethink of the EU trade policy,
- to promote corporate accountability.[2]

Curriculum Vitae
- Trained as a midwife in Hamburg (1978-1980); studied at Hamburg University, graduating in chemistry (1980-1988).
- Worked as a midwife for Hamburg Regional Hospitals (1980-1985); employed by FHH Environmental Authority in the field of technical environmental protection (1989-1997); released from normal duties to chair the Staff Committee, latterly in the Urban Development and Environment Authority (1997-June 2009).
- Member, German Socialist Workers' Youth and Spartakus Marxist Students' Association; member, German Communist Party (1980-1989); member, PDS Party and subsequently of DIE LINKE Party (since 1999).
- Member, spokespersons' committee of the Business and Trade Unions Platform of DIE LINKE; co-founder and member, European Network of Trade Unionists in, and in association with, the European Left; member, ver.di trade union, specialising in 'the Federation, regions and municipalities'.
