Richard Baker
Richard Baker is a British businessman who currently a number of senior roles in food, drink and hospitality companies.
Career
Baker has held senior roles at some of the UK's top businesses. He was the CEO of Asda and the CEO of Boots during the their merge with Alliance UniChem in 2005 and in 2007 agreed the £11 billion sale to private equity firm KKR.
He is currently a non-executive at Costa Coffee; the owner of Premier Inn; chairman of the European Division of Groupe Aeroplan; non-executive chairman of Virgin Active; non-executive director of Whitbread plc, operating partner at Advent International and chairman of DFS.[1][2]
Letter to the Telegraph
On 1 April 2015 Baker was one of 103 business leaders who wrote to the Telegraph praising the British Conservative Party's economic policies and claiming a Labour government would 'threaten jobs and deter investment' in the UK.[3]
