Rakesh Sharma

Rakesh Sharma is the chief executive of Ultra Electronics.

Career

Sharma started his career as an electronic design engineer at Marconi in 1983. In 1989 he moved to Dowty as chief engineer of sonar and communications systems and was then appointed marketing director in 1993.

From 1997 to 1999 he worked in the US as Ultra's operations director, he then moved back to the UK as managing director of PMES and then of sonar and communications systems. In 2005 he was appointed managing director of tactical and sonar systems, before being appointed to run the group's information and power systems division in 2008. In 2010 he was appointed chief operating officer and to the board and in 2011 chief executive.[1]

Support for the Conservatives

On 1 April 2015 Sharma was one of 103 business leaders who wrote to the Telegraph praising the British Conservative Party's economic policies and claiming a Labour government would 'threaten jobs and deter investment' in the UK.[2]
