RUC Special Branch E3A
E3A was the Republican desk within the RUC Special Branch intelligence division, E3.[1]
E3A was the largest desk with E3, dealing with more intelligence and a larger number of incidents than the others. A Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) supervised E3A. Sergeants and Detective constables answered to the DI’s of their respective desks. The republican desk was broken down into specific regions of Northern Ireland, and to some extent different republican organisations.[2]
