Sweden
Ola Tunander's The Secret War against Sweden describes Hansen as a CIA operative and cites him as accusing Soviet Spetznaz forces of covert operations against Sweden to neutralize its defences.[3] Tunander suggests such claims were an attempt to manipulate the Swedish public and armed forces.[4]
On Iraq
In his chapter on arms control in the 2002 book Strategic Denial and Deception, Hansen suggested that Iraq had successfully used denial and deception techniques against UNSCOM weapons inspectors:
- Denial and Deception was effective. In the end, the problem of eliminating Iraqi weapons of mass destruction was not resolved. Saddam Hussein remains capable of reconstituting all or any part of his program to acquire such weapons.[5]
