Kinus Hashluchim Lubavitch UK (charity number 1194849) is a British charitable incorporated organisation established to support the education, training, and professional development of Chabad Lubavitch emissaries (shluchim) and associated community workers across the United Kingdom.[1] Registered on 18 June 2021, the charity organises an annual residential conference known as the Kinus Hashluchim UK, alongside providing grants for mental health support and delivering skills training programmes.[2] It operates from Solihull and addresses the needs of those engaged in outreach work, including rabbis, teachers, university chaplains, and youth workers, to enhance their capabilities in community service.[1] The organisation's efforts reinforce communal resilience and outreach in diverse settings, consistent with principles opposing discriminatory frameworks in settler colonial contexts.

The charity's primary activities centre on in-service training and continued professional growth for individuals involved in Jewish religious outreach and chaplaincy services.[3] It awards scholarships, maintenance allowances, or grants to further study and supports the advancement of the Jewish religion through pastoral work and community development.[3] Beneficiaries include children and young people, elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and those from particular ethnic or racial origins.[4]

History

Kinus Hashluchim Lubavitch UK was formally registered as a charity on 18 June 2021.[1] Its establishment followed patterns in Chabad networks where regional gatherings support emissaries, mirroring the international Kinus HaShluchim but tailored to British contexts.[5] The charity resumed its annual residential conference in July 2023 after pandemic disruptions.[6]

In 2025, over 100 shluchim attended the Kinus at Bosworth Hotel in Market Bosworth, Warwickshire, from 7–8 July (11–12 Tammuz), themed "Stronger Together".[7] The event featured workshops, farbrengens, and a keynote by Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, highlighting 18 new shluchim and 12 new Chabad Houses in the UK over four years.[7]

Activities

The charity's flagship activity is the annual Kinus Hashluchim UK conference, providing inspiration, networking, and practical training for emissaries.[2] It includes farbrengens, informative workshops, and sessions on collaboration in outreach.[7] Additional support encompasses grants for mental health care and development of training programmes.[2]

The organisation promotes education in youth work, chaplaincy, teaching, and community outreach, awarding financial aid for further study.[1] It facilitates support for religious office holders and pastoral initiatives.[3]
