Former UK corporate trustee for the Kantor charitable foundations, dissolved following UK sanctions on its sole director

Kantor Trustees Ltd was a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales on 25 January 2017 and dissolved on 30 July 2024. It served exclusively as the corporate trustee for two UK-registered charities founded by Dr Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor (Moshe Kantor): the Kantor Foundation (charity number 1173549) and the Kantor Charitable Foundation (charity number 1173550).[1]

The company was established to act as the sole trustee for Kantor’s major UK philanthropic vehicles, which supported Jewish communal projects, Holocaust education, and cultural initiatives in the UK and internationally. All three directors listed on the company were closely connected to Moshe Kantor and his family.

Dissolution and impact of sanctions

Following the UK government’s imposition of sanctions on Moshe Kantor in April 2022 (due to his alleged close ties to the Putin regime), the Charity Commission for England and Wales launched formal inquiries into both Kantor charities. Because Kantor Trustees Ltd was the sole corporate trustee, the sanctions effectively paralysed the charities’ governance.

All other directors resigned in 2022. With no remaining trustees and bank accounts frozen, the Charity Commission for England and Wales appointed Interim Managers. In April 2026 the Commission concluded that both charities were no longer viable and ordered their winding-up. After settling all liabilities, approximately £1.388 million was redistributed to other charitable causes aligned with the original objects of the foundations.

Kantor Trustees Ltd itself was formally dissolved on 30 July 2024, bringing an end to its role as trustee for Kantor’s UK philanthropic activities.
