Sir John Sinclair was head of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) from 1952[1] to 1956.[2]
Buster Crabb affair
Sinclair's time as Chief ended after the Buster Crabb affair. In April 1956 a former naval diver working for MI6, Lionel 'Buster' Crabb, disappeared during an unauthorised underwater operation against the Soviet cruiser Ordzhonikidze in Portsmouth harbour. Dick White of MI5 then replaced him.[3]
