  • 1881 - Census data show that Jacob (35) lived with Mary (later Marion) (31), Rosa (13), Bertera (9), Elias (8), Isaac (5), Symon (later Simon) (40 and Emily (2). [1]
  • 1885 - Valuation data show the Rev Furst lived at 7 Park Place the address of the Synagogue in Newington (now known as Potterrow).[2]
  • 1898 - Member of the St Andrews Lodge - No.48 of the Masons.[3]
  • 1901 - 'he includes amongst his greatest personal friends many whith whom on points of theology he is most at variance. Mr Furst is also well known as an ardent Freemason, and for the last ten years he has been chaplain to the Naval and Military Royal Arch Chapter - No, 40.'[4]
  • 1918 Died in 1918 in the district of St giles, Edinburgh.[5]
  • 1919 - London. — The Rev. Jacob Furst, emeritus minister of the Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation, died recently at the age of seventy-four. He had been minister of the Edinburgh congregation since 1879, and was greatly beloved and honored by all classes of society there. For a period of about thirty years he was chaplain to the naval and military Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland, and for a number of years was also chaplain under the Scottish prison commissioners.[6]
