Robinson served as his father's parliamentary assistant until his defeat at the 2010 election. He was a member of Castlereagh Council from 2005 until 2013, during which time he served on the council's management team.
Carl Frampton controversy
In 2014, Robinson was part of a team which brought boxer Carl Frampton to Belfast for a title fight. This led to allegations of a conflict of interest because the event received £300,000 of taxpayer funding.
