Erich von Siebenthal

Erich von Siebenthal is a Swiss parliamentarian and the chair of the Swiss caucus of the Israel Allies Foundation.

In 2014, as part of a global campaign to support Israel's attack on Gaza (Operation Protective Edge) Siebenthal wrote an article for the Swiss daily, Aargauer Zeitung. He accused Hamas of using civilians as human shields and of exploiting civilian casualties for propaganda purposes:

"During the battles against Israel, they abuse their own people as human shields,” he wrote. “It is the tragic reality that Hamas builds on the effectiveness of the images of women and children as victims of Israeli air attacks. Dead Palestinians are for them an important propaganda success, which has had its effect in Switzerland.”
