Dorset County Council
The Dorset County Council is the local authority of the south-west Dorset County.
Dorset contains Petroleum Exploration and Development License (PEDL) blocks licensed to fracking firm Egdon and other conventional oil and gas companies, which allow the license to explore for shale gas. But fracking does not seem to have much social license in the area, as various ‘anti-fracking’ groups have emerged. [1]

In June 2016 Dorset county council in partnership with Dorset Police Force updated the county’s ‘Prevent delivery plan’. The revision included a statement on ‘fracking’ in the ‘specific risk’ section of the plan:
- ‘In rural Dorset issues such as the badger cull and possible “fracking” may also see form of extremism with the potential for violent acts to be committed.’
