Derek Ezra was given the title of Lord Ezra when he became a life peer and member in the House of Lords. Ezra was made a member in February 1983.

Ezra joined the Liberal Party (now called the Liberal Democrats) in 1936 and in 1983 he was recommended by David Steel for a peerage in order to introduce industrial experience onto the Liberal benches in the House of Lords. [1]
