David Halpern

Dr David Halpern is Senior Fellow at the Institute for Government and was seconded to the Prime Minister's office to works on the Big Society and well being issues and as director of the Cabinet Office's Behavioural Insights Team. Halpern was instrumental in founding the Institute for Government and was previously its Deputy Director.[1] Prior to this Halpern lectured at Cambridge University, Nuffield College, Oxford and as a visiting professor at the Centre for European Studies, Harvard. He also worked with the Policy Studies Institute as a researcher [2]

Affiliations

  • Chief Analyst in the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit (2001-2007) where he led reviews including the UK Government's Strategic Audits and recent Policy Reviews;
  • Established the Social Exclusion Task Force, drafted its Action Plan; and authored many of the Strategy Unit's papers, such as on Life Satisfaction and on Personal Responsibility and Behaviour Change
  • Affiliated Lecturer Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Cambridge University
  • Former Advisor to Lord Sainsbury of Turville, David Sainsbury [3]
