Colin Sutton
Colin Sutton is a former detective who investigated deaths of two young military recruits at the controversial Deepcut Army Barracks between 1995 and 2002.
In March 2014 Sutton gave an interview to British ITV News in which he claimed that he had been "pressured from above" to record the Deepcut deaths as suicides.
Sutton said that he felt "extremely uneasy" about the pressure he was put under, and "with the concept that there had almost been a pre-judgement on this, that these were suicides, and that what we wanted to do was prove these were suicides. "I wanted as an investigator to investigate it properly, and come to whatever conclusion the evidence led us to."
He said that the Surrey police force was caught between the "tension" of wanting to be supportive to the Army, and to the families. [1]
